Hazard

The products pose a chemical risk because they contain between 55% and 85% (in relation to the non-propellant content) of methanol. In addition, up to 1.4% of benzene was detected. Both methanol and benzene are substances which are toxic when inhaled or swallowed and upon skin contact. Benzene is also classified as carcinogenic and mutagenic. Methanol leads to damage to the central nervous system, in particular to the optic nerves, and also to the kidneys, liver, heart and other organs. The products do not comply with the Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC as phenol is prohibited.
