Hazard

The product presents a high risk of burns as the plug supplied has a counterfeit cable and is fitted with a modified fuse. The fuse has a wire attached which means it bypasses the fuses’ function and provides no over-current-protection. As a result, a power surge may occur, causing the plug to explode. Due to the length of the cable the consumer may be near the explosion and may receive burns. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Remedy

The import has been rejected at the border and the product has been destroyed
