Hazard

The product presents a high risk of choking as the hat was decorated with a small plastic ‘jewel’. The ‘jewel’ detached at a force of 12.0 ± 0.1 Newtons (N), i.e. less than the minimum of 90 N specified for toys intended for children under 3 years of age. A screen test carried out on the thickness of the bag indicated that it was less than the minimum required of 0.038mm, which presents a potential asphyxiation hazard to the intended consumer. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Remedy

Warning consumers of the risks. The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon).
