Hazard

The products present a risk to health as the sand in the jars may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure. The products do not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Remedy

The products have been withdrawn from the market and recalled from end users by Habico Limited, ESPO, Hampshire County Council Supplies, and YPO Limited. We recommend owners stop using the product immediately and return it to the retailer where specified for a full refund. Follow the below instructions for details on disposal and return of the product.

Product description

350g jars of coloured play sand purchased on or after 1st June 2023. Jars with and without batch codes are currently subject to recall. The affected product can be identified by the statement ‘distributed by Habico Ltd, LS12 4BD’ printed on the label. For retailer-specific identifiers, please see Annex A.
