Shark Tail Baby Sleeping Bag sold via Wish — suffocation risk

UK OPSSSerious riskSuffocationSold on WishOct 22, 2026

Hazard

The product presents a serious risk of asphyxiation when used in a sleep space for babies. Without armholes to retain a child in position, a baby may slip into the sleeping bag and the material may cover a baby’s nose and mouth, which could result in asphyxia leading to serious or even fatal harm. Similarly, due to natural movement of the material, a hood may cover a baby’s nose and mouth, which can lead to suffocation or asphyxiation. OPSS has published a Product Safety Alert for Baby Sleeping Bags, which highlights the risk they may pose to babies: Product Safety Alert: Baby Sleeping Bags (PSA9) - GOV.UK Further information on safe sleeping for babies can be accessed on the NHS website at the following link: https://www.nhs.uk/start-for-life/baby/baby-basics/newborn-and-baby-sleeping-advice-for-parents/safe-sleep-advice-for-babies/ The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
